Owning a small business is fun and a great opportunity to push yourself to do your absolute best while staying aware of what works and what does not work. I am continuously adapting my business. I want to learn from others. I enjoy hearing opinions and ideas. I also enjoy helping others and sharing anything that might be helpful. Of course, it's also nice hearing compliments. Thank you to those who share compliments with me.
Recently I was hit hard with a few comments from a business Facebook group. I was sharing the rubber band cheat sheet we use to decipher sizes that is also on our price sheet. A couple members of the group saw different prices for plus size clothing. They made comments like; "fat tax" and "being rude to have different prices", "walking away feeling judged if prices are different". Those thoughts really made me feel guilty and embarrassed. The concept behind the pricing was the shirts cost more to buy and screen-print.
If you have heard my story about a customer who ordered shirts the summer of 2020 when I only had four designs then you know how much I enjoy my plus size customers. Here is the story just in case you do not know the story. A customer ordered a lot of shirts for me to drop off at their house. I was so excited to get a large order so early in starting my business. I was only on Instagram and Facebook. This customer was from Instagram. He messaged me, "thank you so much and I would have ordered more if you had plus sizes." So I said what sizes, I can order more and will mail them to you. He replied and pre-paid for his plus size shirt order. This family will forever be important to the story of Highway 12 Shirts. This man is the one to thank for giving me the advice to have plus size shirts.
So... when this group of women were making the comments about my price sheet it really hit me hard when I had NO intentions of making any plus size customer feel that way. I have made the decision to price all of our clothing at the same price. The prices are all updated on my website and our price sheets are also updated for our shows.
Right now I am in a moment of renovation. I have a huge sale collection with everything listed at $15. The items are going quickly so I added three new designs to the collection. Everything on the website is now up to date and will get me through the rest of market season.
We have a couple markets left in September. A few markets in October. Hopefully markets every weekend in November and December, but we still have to get accepted in a few to be certain of that schedule.
Spring 2025 I will focus on tank tops and short sleeve shirts.

Your shirts are the most comfortable I’ve ever had pricing is within range of others. Looking forward to seeing tank tops ( light colors) in 2025
I love your shirts and am happy to pay the higher cost for plus sizes. They are quality shirts that represent a place I love!
You rock!
