A new and seasonal artists market is coming to the Tri-villages, with its first-ever event scheduled for Monday, April 10, from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
The April “Tri Villages Market at Camp Hatteras” will feature more than 30 artists, craftsmen, and vendors, and will set the stage for a weekly summertime “Wednesday in Waves” market that will be held from June 21 until August 16.
Megan Gregory, market organizer and owner of Highway 12 Shirts, says that the new weekly market is a resurgence of sorts.
“Years ago, there was a market at the community building. Then we did a summer market with the owner of Anchor Grill,” she said. “I grew up spending all summer at Pea Island Resort – now Camp Hatteras Campground – so I was given the opportunity and encouraged by the longtime manager to continue the market with the help of Kristi at Camp Hatteras”
The market will take place on the grounds of Camp Hatteras along the soundside, which makes it easy to walk or bike to for Rodanthe, Waves, and Salvo visitors via the multi-use pathway.
More than a dozen artists and vendors have also signed up for the weekly summertime market, and more are expected as the summer season draws closer.
“With the new [markets in Nags Head and other areas], I really hope to create awareness and encourage artists and makers to consider staying on the island and adding Wednesday in Waves to their plans,” said Gregory. “I’m excited for this new opportunity and create a fun shopping event for everyone staying in the Tri-Villages.”
