About Us

Our Story

Highway 12 Shirts was born from a leap of faith — and a love affair with the Outer Banks.

Megan packed up her life in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and followed her heart to Salvo, NC, a small village tucked along the barrier islands of Hatteras Island. What she found there — the salt air, the wide-open sound, the tight-knit community, and the wild beauty of the coast — inspired her to create something that captured it all.

Highway 12 Shirts is named after the road that runs the length of the Outer Banks, connecting the villages, the beaches, the marshes, and the people who call this place home. Every design celebrates life on the barrier islands, from sea to sound.

Made with Care, Printed by Hand

We screen-print our apparel and stickers right here on the Outer Banks. Screen printing is a craft — each color is applied one layer at a time, by hand, with attention to detail that mass production simply can't match. When you wear a Highway 12 shirt, you're wearing something made with intention.

Part of the Community

The Outer Banks isn't just where we work — it's where we live. We're proud to be part of the Hatteras Island community and to create goods that locals and visitors alike can take home as a piece of this special place.

Megan is also a Realtor with Surf or Sound Realty if you or someone you know are interested in listing or purchasing a property here on the Outer Banks.
